Romance blooms in the unforgiving American frontier in Open Country—the second book in Kaki Warner’s acclaimed Blood Rose Trilogy—when a train crash leads to a marriage built on lies.
When Hank awakes—against all odds—from the accident that nearly took his arm, he’s stunned to discover that he has a wife and two children. Did the accident erase his memories? Turns out, the truth is more devastating. Molly, penniless and hunted by a killer, married him to claim the railroad’s insurance settlement. After all, no one thought he would survive. But even though their marriage is a sham, the love that blossoms between them is real. Now if only Molly can find a way to earn Hank’s trust before their chance at true happiness is lost forever….

I didn't realize this was a trilogy until after I bought this one. I went back to buy the first book (and the third), because I wanted to see where it all began. I'm SO glad I did! I love the Wilkins brothers. Brady, Hank, and Jack are rugged, handsome ranchers who have their many flaws. This one was very entertaining with Hank's memory loss, and Molly's desperation. I love how they fell in love. And the secondary characters are just as interesting. Penny and Hank's scenes were adorable. I also enjoyed the brothers' interactions, too. This book was hard to put down! I'm so glad I found this author. I look forward to reading more of her work.

Once I started this I could not put it down. Plenty of characters to keep you involved, with the spotlight on Hank and Molly ofcourse. Hank is all you want in a guy and Molly and the kids seemed perfect for him. Loved them all. The plotline has plenty of depth with all the essentials, strong romance, mystery, suspense and action. All you could ask for in a good historical western romance. Can't wait to read her next. Hoping this author will keep them coming!

Although I enjoyed Book One, I absolutely loved this one and can't wait to read Book Three. Molly and the kids make a wonderful addition to the Wilkin's clan. And Hank, well, there's a guy you'd love to meet! Highly recommend this book and hope there will be lots more offered by this author. If you love a strong romance along with your action and suspense you'll like this.
