Jodi Thomas, the Queen of Texas Romance, takes us back to Whispering Mountain with Texas Blue, introducing us to a cynical gambler willing to buck the odds in a high-stakes game of love in the American West.
Gambling man Lewton Paterson wants to marry into a respectable family, and he has the perfect target—the McMurray clan. Specifically, Emily McMurray, the young lady his friend, Duncan McMurray, is trying to marry off. Knowing that Duncan wouldn’t approve of his intentions, Lewt makes his way to Whispering Mountain on his own, only to find out that seducing a well-bred woman is harder than he thought. To entice a McMurray sister, he’ll need to learn a thing or two about ranching…and he’ll need to learn fast.
Emily McMurray has no intention of ever getting married, so when the latest batch of suitors arrive, she convinces a friend to take her place so she can run the ranch as usual. But when Lewt seeks her out for a crash course in ranching, she finds herself unexpectedly torn, struggling to keep up both her disguise and the walls around her heart. She always felt marriage was a trap, so why is it that the more time she spends with Lewt, the more she wants to stay in his arms forever...?

I got onto the story , but ,could not get out until the finish. tne darts and arrows of wit between Lawton and Emily was entertaining and kept a smile on my face until the end of the story. Loved the suspense and action. Now what story will Duncan have?

I really enjoyed this book. I agree with reviewer Annie in that it would be great if Jodie Thomas would stick t historical novels. This story was really good with lots of suspense in the last half. There is another story Jodi could write about Anna and Duncan. Hope she does. I highly recommend this book.

This book is on my keeper shelf with Jodi Thomas' other historical romances. Strong hero, feisty heroine, and plenty of plot twists, supporting characters and passionate romance. All I've come to expect from Jodi Thomas. Sure do wish she'd go back to writing all historicals rather than contemporaries, which I don't bother with. So, loved it and recommend.
