The Norse King's Daughter

Sidroc is a living legend—both on battlefield and in bedchamber—but he’s put in his place when Princess Drifa learns the true reason he’s been lavishing her with his attentions. A third-born son with no hope of inheriting the family jarldom, the virile Viking only wants her father’s land and money. The barbarian is lucky she only cracked him on his fool head with a pottery pitcher!

But as Sandra Hill’s The Norse King’s Daughter continues, an unexpected reunion in Byzantium five years later leaves them both confused. Though the hard feelings still remain, it’s hard to deny that—enemies though they be—they match each other so well. Now, as two strangers in a strange land, they have to decide: are they friends, foes, or something more…?

Another entertaining Sandra Hill read
January 09, 2012

I love Sandra Hill's Viking books. This continues the series about the daughters of King Thorvald. All of his daughters are unconvential for the times they live in. They are not subservient, and they are definitely not shrinking violets. Drifa is the youngest daughter to find her match. The story is enjoyable with funny parts and witty banter. Sometimes it's frustrating and you want to shake the main character(s) into settling things. Simple unfortunate situations can be dragged out for a long time, which I suppose is the author's way of making the story longer. Also the characters seem to switch between old-sounding language and modern. Just don't dwell on that. Overall, another good story from Sandra Hill. I don't know if she will continue this Viking series (she writes 2) or if this is the end. I would love to see it continue.
