The Divide

When the body of a young woman is discovered embedded in the ice of a mountain creek, it doesn’t take police long to identify the dead woman; Abbie Cooper is wanted for murder. How she died and what led this golden child of a loving family so tragically astray makes this electrifying new novel from a master storyteller bound for the top of the bestseller list.

I enjoyed this book, it kept me guessing as to who did what. At times I couldn't put it down.

KINDA SO-SO

I FINISHED THIS BOOK BECAUSE I PAYED FOR IT. THE STORY WAS A BIT FAR FETCHED AND I DON'T KNOW THAT I WILL READ ANOTHER NICHOLAS EVANS SELECTION. JUST DON'T KNOW TO MANY TEENAGE BOYS THAT WOULD GO THE EXTREMES THAT THE BROTHER IN THIS BOOK WENT TO TO HELP A WAYWARD SISTER THAT NEEDED A GOOD OLE FASHION WHIPPING!

Disappointing
May 06, 2008

The first chapter was great, I couldn't wait to read more. However, intead of what could have been a good mystery, the story became a very long and unbelievable soap opera. I was about the same age as Abbie when my parents divorced and my impression of Abbie's behavior was that she was a petulant brat. Ben and Sarah make no effort to salvage their marriage through counseling or something, they sort of just give up. As a result, I couldn't buy into any of the characters. So sad.

I was very disappointed in this book. The first chapter really hooked me then the rest of the story was told in the past tense. Boring, boring, boring! The ending just plain made me mad. I was left sorry I'd spent money on the book.

touching family drama
May 07, 2007

From page one I could not put this book down. Based around the discovery of a young womans body found in a frozen ravine. Evans looks how a family deals with infidelity and the loss of a daughter. I found myself attached to and feeling the pain of all the characters involved. A good read.
