Brimming with scandal and seduction, this sumptuous novel by New York Times bestselling author Shirlee Busbee follows a reluctant beauty beset by an unexpected fortune, dangerous family secrets and the seductive magic of love. The first word that comes to Daphne’s mind when she first meets Charles Weston is “rude.” The second is “arrogant.” Too bad he’s as handsome as the devil…and the man who comes to her rescue when she gets her foot trapped in some rocks. Ah well. His infuriating presence is a small price to pay for her life—or so it seemed until a rockslide strands them both inside a cave. A dark family secret brings Charles to Cornwall, so he isn’t on his best behavior when he first runs into Daphne. His true self comes out, however, when the rockslide traps them together for two nights—and especially afterward, when honor demands that he ask for her hand in marriage in order to shield her from scandal. He has no complaints, as he has already fallen for her. She, on the other hand, would almost rather be buried under another avalanche than spend another minute with him. But Charles is not so easily dissuaded, and as Daphne would soon learn, anger can be a most powerful aphrodisiac.…

A difficult read. Her last book was so much better. During the last part of the book she seemed to run out of ideas entirely and used exsx to make her pages. She needs a new plot. This was too much of the last one and done in a very dull, dragging style. Talk about wordy! Don't recommend.

I was all prepared for a good read until the heroine met the ghost near the beginning of the book. It scared the wits out of me! I don't like supernatural books like this because they scare me. I like being entertained, not tormented. It's just my nature. I threw the book away without reading any further. It's too bad because I love Shirlee Busbee. When did she start writing ghost stories?? I want a book that I can fall asleep reading not one that has me too jumpy to rest and searching around every corner. Count me out!

Shirlee Busbee is becoming one of my favorite authors. The story of Charles and Daphne was excellent.

Shirley Busbee used to write interesting, intriguing and intricate stories. This is not one of them. The characters lack depth and the plot was unimaginative. It was a very boring read and I found myself just skimming thru parts of it instead of reading it. I would not recommend it and if she continues to write this way, will remove her from my list of favorite writers.
