The Apothecary's Daughter

In Julie Klassen's The Apothecarys Daughter, Lilly Haswell, brilliant daughter of the local apothecary, yearns for more adventure than their small village promises to give her. She also longs to know the truth behind her mother’s disappearance, which her father refuses to discuss.

Opportunity for escape comes when an aunt offers to educate Lilly as a lady in London. Exposed to fashionable society and romance, as well as clues about her mother, Lilly is torn when she is summoned back to her ailing father’s bedside. Women are forbidden to work as apothecaries, so Lilly will have to make it appear as if her father is making all the decisions.

But a competing apothecary is watching her—and three men are competing for Lilly’s heart.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Began reading it one evening, made myself stop - reluctantly - at 5AM in the morning and finished it a few hours after waking. The old "medicines" used were fascinating. Easy to read plot, well done. Tried to find the first novel - (this was the 3rd) - "Lady of Milkweed Manor" - but no luck so far.

"The Apothecary's Daughter" has a very entertaining storyline, and it is very easy to get involved with the characters. I enjoyed reading it very much but prefer a much shorter book.

The Apothecary's Daughter

This was an excellent, easy read that was suspenseful and captivating to the last page. The character I thought of as the Apothecary's Daughter was very believable, but turned out to be not the only Apothecary's Daughter! Read to find out who the other one was. It will be quite a surprise! Loved every minute of the book.
