But the devastatingly handsome marquis’ reputation as a rogue shields a double life as an agent for the crown….
However, Rupert suspects the innocent-seeming Rebecca has been spying on him, and steps up his seduction. The consequence—a forced march to the altar—convinces him he fell into a carefully planned trap to marry into his family. Yet what of Rebecca’s sweet pledge that theirs will not be a marriage in name only? On that score, Rupert knows only that schemer or not, he plans to show his new wife exactly what it means to share her bed with a man of passion….

I read most of Johanna Lindseys books and they were all very unique with different roles, this role was interesting also, but i was really disappointed in this book, it seems like it promise so much, when i first read a few chapters it was boring, i made myself read a few chapters more and it was quite interesting but overall of the story it was what i expected it was rather dull for her. i hope her next book is better then this one.

The first chapter and the whole ending to the story both seemed like they were tacked on as an afterthought. The main part of the story is interesting and fun, but the set-up of the heroine seemed like it was written by a fifth grader who was summarizing the real story for a book report, and the ending was very abrupt - the resolution wasn't as dramatic and enjoyable as what Ms. Lindsey usually gives us.
This is great to borrow from the library and read on a Saturday afternoon/evening. I wouldn't pay money for it unless you find it as a discounted paperback somewhere and want to make sure your Johanna Lindsey collection is complete.

I was very disappointed with the story, maybe I expected too much since she's one of my favorite writers I felt the story just didn't have that umph that her other stories did.

I have read every one of Johanna Lindsey's books. This one is a unique story line, like many of her books. I couldn't put the book down, and completed it in 7 hrs.
