In the mood for a heartstopping read? Cold River is the real deal as bestselling author Carla Neggers combines harrowing plotlines in a stunning climax you’ll be turning pages to get to, even if it takes all night.
It may have taken a while, but Hannah Shay has finally shown the town of Black Falls what she’s really worth. Her Three Sisters Café is an undeniable success, and even more impressive, Hannah is soon to realize her long-standing dream to become a prosecutor. What she didn’t plan for is her café suddenly becoming an epicenter for an army of investigators trying to take down a violent crime ring that’s leaving bloody trails on nearby Cameron Mountain. Nor is Hannah prepared for her emotional response to suspicions that a man from her past is involved.
The main reason Sean Cameron returns to the endless snow and mind-numbing cold of his Vermont hometown is to unmask his father’s killer. While Sean has the skills and resources to mount his own search, it’s still imperative that he convert the resistant Hannah to his cause and gain her cooperation. Why? Because Sean is certain the killer is readying to strike again…and he’s closer than anyone imagined.

This is the first book I have read by this author and the first review I have submitted. Granted, I have spoiled myself on David Baldacci, Harlan Coben, and James Patterson, but the writing is not impressive at all. It would have helped some to read the previous book, but I was able to follow the story in spite of the author's ramblings. It is shallow and manufactured - not natural at all. It was irritating to read since the characters constantly made mountains out of molehills. Definitely not gripping but I did finish the book. Unfortunately, I purchased The Mist at the same time as Cold River. It will have to be a drastic improvement for me to consider this author again.

I read all her books and while this one was a bit more complex it was a good read. Plenty of excitement and I was not sure til' the end how it would turn out. Can't wait for Cold Dawn

So many characters were introduced in the first few pages - needed a score card to keep track of everyone! Story line was interesting, but hard to follow, not knowing the background of all involved.

Make sure you've read her preceding novel. This was hard to follow as there were a lot of characters who had a history and this definitely picked up where another book had begun.

This was a good read, but I felt like some pieces of the plot were left hanging. I am, however, looking forward to Cold Dawn.
