Ice

It’s the season for Santa, and award-winning author Linda Howard’s very special gift to you is the non-stop suspense you’ll find in her new thriller, the gripping story of a man, a woman and a battle for survival against an unforgiving winter—and an unrelenting enemy. As a dangerous ice storm rapidly approaches, Gabriel McQueen, on a much-needed holiday leave from the service, can’t refuse the local sheriff’s request that he check on the welfare of a distant neighbor—even if it is the infuriating Lolly Helton. Only too mindful of the icy conditions that have always characterized their non-relationship, Gabriel heads out into the frigid night, certain it’s all for naught. Yet when Gabriel arrives, he can see that the encroaching storm is the least of Lolly’s worries. Approaching her isolated home, he finds her at the mercy of several menacing intruders, and from what he can see, at least one of them is packing a weapon. But when Gabriel kicks into combat mode and stealthily frees Lolly from her captors, he knows it’s only a matter of time before her escape is discovered. And that’s the moment when Howard’s Ice ignites into the heat of the hunt….

Although a short story ( I read it in 2 hours) I found it a page turner.

I got all excited when I saw this was out. I never miss a Linda Howard book. This is not one of her best. It's a very short, one night read and lacks the depth and intrigue of her other books. The story is superficial and predictable. Don't get too excited Linda Howard fans.
