Rosalind Townsend, who everyone called Lin, held her newborn son tightly in her arms as the orderly wheeled her to the hospital’s administration office. A nurse tried to take him from her so she could tend to the business of her release, but she refused.
After eighteen hours of agonizing labor without any medication, she’d delivered a healthy six-pound-eight-ounce baby boy. She wasn’t about to let him out of her sight.
She’d named him William Michael Townsend. A good solid name. She would call him Will.
Like his father’s, Will’s hair was a deep black, so dark it appeared to be blue. Lin wasn’t sure about his eyes at that point. She’d read in her baby book that a newborn’s eye color wasn’t true at birth. Nothing about him resembled her, as she was fair-haired with unusual silver-colored eyes and milk white skin.
She gazed down at the securely wrapped bundle in her arms and ran her thumb across his delicate cheek. Soft as silk. He yawned revealing tender, pink gums. Lin smiled down at her son. No matter what her circumstances, she made a vow to herself; she would devote her life to caring for this precious little child.

No one keeps readers riveted to the page like Fern Michaels. In Return to Sender, we’re immediately moved by the plight of 17-year-old Rosalind “Lin” Townsend, pregnant and alone after her cruel father turns her out. The baby’s father, Nick Pemberton, rejects Lin as well, dashing all her hopes of having a traditional home. But with a determination beyond her years, Lin vows to create a good life for her son and, nineteen years later, she’s made good on her word. The owner of a thriving Georgia diner, Lin has saved enough to send Will, her bright, handsome son, to college in New York City, where she has accompanied him when everthing suddenly changes….
Is it fate that puts Nick in her path? She can’t believe she’s come face to face with the man, now a millionaire CEO, who sent back all her letters unopened and marked “Return to Sender.” Maybe it’s time to right an old wrong. To that end, Lin finds a way to disrupt Nick’s life and his finances with spectacular results. But that’s when she learns the truth: that what happened all those years ago is far more complicated than she was led to believe. Will Lin continue to seek revenge, or open her heart to a message returned, this time, with love?

I love Ferns work, but I was so disappointed in the ending.
I think Will and his dad should have been a part of the ending more and his dad surviving because of Will would have been wonderful.

While the ending was ok the rest of the book annoyed me. I could only read a page or two at a time and had to put it down.

Where do I begin? This had to be one of the worst books I have ever read. I struggled to get through this dare I call it a book? Saving grace was I didn't buy it--- I borrowed it from the library. It was one of those books you struggle through and then after you finish the last page wonder why you even bothered. I will never read anything else this author writes. I know that is a harsh statement but this book was THAT AWFUL.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I could not put it down and it was very easy reading. I went on line and ordered some of her older books after I finished reading this book.
