In Home Front, Kristin Hannah, the blockbuster bestselling author of Night Road and Firefly Lane delivers a powerful, emotionally riveting novel that explores an American family’s torment and triumph.
Neighbors of Michael and Jolene Zarkades would be shocked to know the seemingly devoted couple’s marriage is nothing but a sham. After 12 years together, the only things the pair still adore are their two daughters. Unhappy—and growing more so by the day—Michael and Jolene are edging toward divorce when the Iraq war intervenes.
A successful and busy lawyer, Michael is enraged that Jolene’s National Guard unit has been deployed, leaving him in charge of the girls—and everything else. But that’s what you get when you marry a Black Hawk helicopter pilot. Jolene also is stunned by the news, especially when, upon arrival in the war-ravaged country, she’s sent deep into harm’s way.
Home Front heads into heartbreak territory when something so unthinkable happens it forces the beleaguered couple to confront their darkest fears. But hope is often born of courage. With a future transformed by the ravages of war, can Michael and Jolene rediscover the powerful love they once shared?

I have read most of Kristin's books and would say this is among her best, although my favorite is still Magic Hour. This story has a great plot line, and wonderful characters (Conny). Kristin's use of language is brillant. The dialogue was great. She can write in childese (Lulu), in pre-teenese (Besty), legalese (Michael), and lastly in everyday English. The relationships ring very true. Enjoy!!!!
