In Born to Darkness, New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann, the “superstar of romantic suspense” (USA Today), begins a stunning new futuristic series that will make fans of J.D. Robb stand up and cheer!
It’s the not-too-distant future, where discoveries at the Obermeyer Institute (OI) have enabled certain individuals to tap into the brain’s hidden powers, making them super-humans called “Greater-Thans.” The instruction works best on those considered to have natural potential, like Dr. Michelle (Mac) Mackenzie. Right now Mac and her colleagues are trying to find a young girl, a future Than, who has been kidnapped with others for use in creating a dangerously addictive drug called Destiny. The very idea of it infuriates Mac, whose past with abusive men has made her somewhat of a loner. It is for that reason she is resistant to working with former Navy SEAL Shane McLaughlin, a new rising-star recruit. But there is another reason… Shane is the man with whom Mac shared a sizzling one-night sexual connection. Which means Born to Darkness heats up big time as it hurtles toward an ending that will leave readers breathless…and on the edge of their seats in anticipation of Book Two.

This first book seems to set up future books well. Suzanne has done it again. I read to be entertained and can't wait until the next one arrives. It's a quick read and has well developed charactersI thought.
